This diptych was created in loving memory of a beloved friend and community member that we lost in December of 2020. Double Positive: From the Earth to the Sky represents the duality of a double positive status. These pieces exist to commemorate a loved one lost due to complications of HIV during the time of Covid. Painting these symbols provided me with a way to grieve and honor the lives of those lost during the time of quarantine and to celebrate those who are still living with a positive status and navigating complications created by these dual pandemics.
